The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) has established a comprehensive research framework to generate scientific evidence on the safety, efficacy, and quality of Ayurvedic medicines and interventions. Through intramural, collaborative, and industry-supported research, the Council has validated classical formulations, developed novel herbal drugs such as AYUSH-64 and AYUSH-82, and conducted multicentric clinical, pharmacological, and toxicological studies for various diseases of national importance. Recognizing the growing global demand for evidence-based traditional medicine, CCRAS has also undertaken systematic safety evaluations of metal- and mineral-based Ayurvedic formulations in collaboration with premier research institutions. These initiatives aim to integrate traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern scientific methodologies, strengthen public confidence, and promote the safe and effective use of Ayurveda in national and global healthcare systems.
