Osteoarthritis of the knee joint is one of the most common degenerative joint disorders causing pain, stiffness, and functional impairment, leading to a major burden on society. Ayurveda explains Sandhivata and its management through Snehana and Basti therapies. Matra Basti, a type of Sneha Basti, is indicated for Vata disorders and helps in improving joint function. The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of Matra Basti with Yamaka Sneha in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Patients fulfilling the diagnostic criteria were administered Matra Basti with Murchita Tila Taila for 9 days and assessed based on subjective and objective parameters. The study showed significant improvement in symptoms such as pain, joint stiffness, movement-related pain, and tenderness. The therapy provided relief in osteoarthritis symptoms and showed beneficial effects in improving the quality of life of patients.
